Senior Compliance Administrator

This role based in Japan works very closely with our commercial team and plays an important role in keeping our business compliant and risk-free given their expertise on commercial contracts and legal and compliance issues surrounding the staffing industry and consulting services throughout Japan. As a Senior Compliance Administrator, you will support our sales functions and leaders in Japan and support the region APAC as a partner and adviser. You will be expected to work effectively and autonomously without supervision and to enable the business while ensuring the business stays compliant.

You will be expected to manage contract negotiations from a legal and commercial perspective, operating as a business partner to the region that falls under your remit. Further, you will work closely with the business and Sales Directors in identifying compliant business solutions as well as resolving legal issues with suppliers and clients. Moreover, you will be expected to support HR and Finance on matters relating to the business from a legal standpoint.

Responsibilities

  • Review / drafting / amendment / negotiation of master contracts / framework agreements
    and nondisclosure agreements with clients, suppliers and partners surrounding IT
    services and staffing of freelance/ltd company IT specialists and permanent recruitment
    in various jurisdictions within Japan, including contract negotiation support to the sales
    function
  • Review / drafting / amendment / negotiation of contracts and agreements surrounding
    other business arms of the K2 Group, such as K2 Education / Universities and assisting
    the APAC and global legal and compliance function on projects, transactions and
    business ventures as required
  • Responding to emails and queries raised in the general email inbox of the legal
    department
  • Contract management, administration and generation
  • Legal research, identification of contract and business issues and risks; provision of
    advice to the sales function and business leaders, enabling them to form an informed
    decision on business risks associated with contracts and projects
  • Continuous development of terms of business in line with changing legislation and
    business developments
  • Training of sales function on contractual compliance, and legal matters
  • Dealing with litigation matters and managing external counsel where necessary
  • Responding to candidate and client queries / issues
  • Application for work permits for candidates; application for and renewal of country specific
    licenses the business holds

Requirements & Skills

  • 3+ years work experience in Compliance or Legal related function
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Strong work ethic and commitment to completing tasks
  • Knowledge in Haken Business
  • Ability to switch from various tasks throughout the day
  • Native or business level Japanese & English proficiency (spoken & written)

Ideal candidates will possess:

  • Formal education / qualifications in legal, compliance or a related field
  • Past experience with legal & compliance positions covering entities in APAC
